A Dream Come True

Joy and David Tschümperlin have been an inseparable team for over ten years. They met in Thailand, which is exactly where the roots of their shared vision lie. Since 2022, they have been running the Thai restaurant Phra Nakhon with great passion. With Kafi Raab, they are now fulfilling another dream: a small, charming café with a personal touch.

Joy is responsible for the design, atmosphere, and the overall look and feel. Born in Thailand, she learned to cook in her family's catering business. She later worked as a computer programming teacher at a high school before meeting David. Joy has lived in Switzerland since 2016, worked as a chef and cooking instructor at Eventküche Baden, and has been the head chef at Phra Nakhon since 2022. Her dream was always to open a café in the style of Thailand – warm, vibrant, and welcoming.

David is in charge of the food and beverage offerings. His passion lies in good food, coffee, wine, and gin. After completing his culinary apprenticeship at Sternen Würenlingen, he gained experience in various establishments, including Einstein Aarau, Restaurant Lemon, Trafo Betriebs AG Baden, and National Davos. Following his time as head chef at Piazza Baden, he graduated from the Hotel Management School Zurich (HFZ). This was followed by roles as Managing Director of Biergarten Baden, Badi Diner Oerlikon, and most recently as Hotel Director of the Blue City Hotel Baden. Since 2022, he has also been running Phra Nakhon, and now, together with Joy, Kafi Raab.
